Just as the title says, I am so happy with my progress! I am down a full 2 inches since I started power up almost a month ago! I am so happy and proud of myself for it too!
I lost almost a full week of workout because I over did it and was unable to walk. My foot had begun swelling on a daily basis which was super painful as well. After a week of taking it easy, and icing a lot, and getting a new pair of work shoes, I am glad to report that there is no swelling now, and I was able to return to Zumba classes this week. Although I still took it easy on the jumping and not going the distance like I wanted, which for anyone who knows me is not easy, I still managed to keep my weight loss going. Well, technically my inch loss :)
I know it's a short blog post today, but I have to get my homework done! I am a little behind on it, but will make another post as soon as I can!!
Simple Moment of the Day:
My future mother-in-law called me a gem this morning :) Made me feel amazing!

My original plan was to just write about simple moments, but it is turning into so much more. But I am okay with that.

Stressful End to the Week
Well, as the title implies, it was a stressful ending to the week. I could totally go for some hardcore working out and not thinking about anything but the next move, but eh, it's Saturday night, and I'm working on homework, so yeah, I'm writing a blog post instead. :)
It was a rough day at work, lots of changes in the schedule, both authorized and last minute. Making an already uneasy day worse. I won't go into specifics cause that's not important. I won't know of the Travis will be home next weekend, but I sure hope that God graces us with the blessing of flight information on Wednesday. I really need some boyfriend time. Mainly because tomorrow is Father's Day, and I am having a difficult time trying to keep it all together.
Father's Day has always been fairly hard on me since my biological dad died when I was 13. However, with losing Danny only 7 short months ago, it's about a thousand or so times worse. I am trying to keep a grip on, well, everything, but somehow, it all seems to be slipping away. Almost like, if I try to tighten my grip on my life and everything around me it sling shots away from me, leaving me feeling worse than before.
Knowing I have to work tomorrow helps a little, at least for a few hours I will be busy and mind occupied. Then, hopefully, my friend is coming over to hang out and do some study work since she is in college and I'm taking my online coding class. So that will help too.
It's in the first and last moments of the day that are going to be the hardest. Knowing that I didn't buy him anything this year like I have the last 10+ years. Knowing I won't be giving him a card. It's heart breaking and almost gut wrenching, but I will try and make the most of the day that I can. I will try to salvage it, and hope that my thoughts won't drift too often to Danny tomorrow. Next year might be easier, but who knows.
On a workout side of life:
I started measuring myself 2 weeks ago again, and ta-da! I am down 1 FULL inch off my waist! Hot Dog! I am happy as can be about that. My weight hasn't gone down much, 173-170 and sadly, back up to 171. But hey, the weight will come off AFTER the inches do! Well, speaking of, it's time to eat again. :)
Until next time,
Remember the Simple Things in Life

I had a rough day today, so my Mom is making me the best dinner a girl could ask for; fried chicken, baked beans, mashed potatoes, and sweet cornbread muffins! YUM!

Dancing to the Beat of My Own Drum
I discovered a great way to exercise about a month ago. It's called Zumba. Normally, I usually only last about a couple of weeks with any routines I have tried in the past because I haven't seen the results I would like to see. Well, Zumba is the opposite.
I look forward to going to class every day, seeing the people, talking with the instructors, and dancing. I have always loved to dance, but this puts a whole new spin on it. You can burn as much as 1,000 calories per class. Just knowing that when I am done, I will have burned at least most of what I had consumed that day is amazing. The harder you work, the louder you holler back at the instructor and the more energy you put into it, the more you lose the weight, the inches, etc., etc.
My instructors are amazing, and very encouraging. They use the positive reinforcement technique which will keep people coming back. The energy level is highly addictive, and the positivity is even more addictive. Just knowing that I am not going to be put down for doing a step wrong, but encouraged to try it again and nail it, is ever so helpful. I am learning a lot from going to class and watching my instructors online on the public profiles. They give GREAT health tips that you should live by and good examples of healthy foods to eat. They are trying to teach you how to enjoy what you eat. Eat to Live. Not Live to Eat.
When I started Zumba, I was nervous, but the instructor, Casey, told me not to be. That everyone has been in my shoes, and everyone has started at the bottom. The first couple of weeks are the worst because you don't know the steps and you look like a fool, but everyone starts that way. After a few weeks now, I am getting a lot of the routines down in both classes, hers and the owner of the studio (Michelle). I can't tell you how happy I am to have found something I love doing, and something that is so much fun. It keeps me wanting to come back and going harder the next class. I messed up a step or four? It's cool, next class I can rock it out.
Now, on to the results.
So, keep in mind, I have only been going to the studio for about a month. And that I have only started going more than twice a week this week.
In one week since I started going 4 times a week for Zumba (5 when I can make the Monday class, or staying for another Zumba class after the first one), 2 times a week for Power Up (Weights for 30 minutes) and yoga once a week, I have lost a half inch off my waist, and have lost 3 lbs. To you it may not sound like much, to me, it's results. I am going to be measuring once a week. My waist at start last week was 39 1/2 inches. I am now at 39 inches even. I want to be down to 35 1/2 or 35 by my birthday which is 54 days from today. It's going to take some hard core dieting, which I have started, and a lot of exercise, which I am happy to be doing, but I can reach my goal.
Well, I now must get on to homework. It's nice to be back to blogging, it truly is.
*Simple Moment of the Day*
My instructor, Michelle, told me the other night that people will purposely try to make you angry, and will do whatever they can to get a rise out of you. If you let them make you angry, then they win. Don't let them. Don't let them get the best of you. Don't let them make you angry, cause all it does is allow them to win. Don't let them bring you down. Be the winner, and look at them and say, bless you. I send nothing but positive vibes to you and wish you nothing but happiness. I feel sorry for you, cause you don't know how to be happy. It took her saying this, and really pondering it for a moment for it to finally sink in.
This girl is on fire, and can't no body bring me down.

Well, it has been a while
So much has happened since the last time I posted anything.
Life is very slowly getting back to normal. Well, as normal as can be. Boyfriend is working hard at his new job which requires a lot of travel. He loves it, it's good money, and hopefully they will decide to hire him full time once he is finished with probation period. If they do, it means benefits for him, and eventually for me as well.
As for me, I am, as always, still working hard and trying to give my best. I am in school now, doing a medical billing and coding class, which I am liking more and more the deeper I get into it. It's a lot of memorization, and a lot of computer work and reference checking, but I like it a lot. It suits who I am. I work better alone, and with my thoughts to myself. Oh Lord, our newest addition to my family is at it again. We have adopted a little calico and named her Walli. She's a crazy little thing that drives the older cats up a wall. But, she's sweet and loves her Mommy *me*.
Mom is doing exceptionally well. She is staying busy as always. She does over do it some days and I have to remind her that she isn't my age anymore. She's in her 50's and needs to slow down some. But she's as stubborn as I am and doesn't really listen to anyone.
My brother and his wife had their twin boys, who are mirror images of their older brothers. *One looks like the oldest and the other looks like the middle child.* They are precious, Kason and Kyler are the names, and they are now 5 weeks old.
I know this post is kind of short, but I have a lot on my plate today and even more on my mind. I am saying a prayer for a good friend of mine who is going through a hard time. I hope that she remembers that I love her and will always be here for her. I hope that everyone sends up a prayer for her and her family.
Simple Moment of the Day:
I have discovered Zumba, and my instructor is very energetic, and uplifting. She pushes me to be a happy and healthy person and to test my limits. Seeing her and working out with her a couple times a week usually puts a big smile on my face.
Until next time, remember the simple things in life.

Happy New Year
Whelp the last year has been really rough on my family. We lost two members to cancer this year.
I am hoping and praying for a healthy and happy new year.
I haven't posted much of anything these last few months since we have had a lot going on. Here's roughly what's been happening.
1: Danny passed away, but I posted about it, he lost his battle to cancer.
2: My brother and sister-in-law are expecting twins now, not just a single baby. They are both boys. Mom and both babies are doing well.
3: My Mom is doing really well with everything that has been going on. She is an amazingly strong woman and I couldn't have asked for a better role model. She is definitely the best woman I have ever met.
4: I have signed up for classes for a medical billing and coding class this spring.
5: I fractured my heel back in July and went to the doctor in December. It was a small stress fracture, and it is finally healed.
6: We got a new kitten, named it Walli. She is a cute little calico. Feisty, playful and adorable. She likes to cuddle a lot.
phew.
That was a lot more than I thought. I didn't realize so much had actually happened. :)
It has been a rough few months, but we have done everything we could to push through. I have been working a alot and doing some job searching. Hoping to have a new job by this summer.
Well, this blogger, who is feeling much better *mentally and emotionally* needs to finish laundry. I am going to see a movie with the boyfriend's Mom tonight. I am going to see 'Les Miserables'. I can't wait!!
Make it a wonderful day, and a wonderful new year!!

Danny 10/27/2012
My Dad passed away on Saturday October 27, 2012 after losing his battle to cancer.
It started with Hodgkins disease 15 years ago, then he had esophageal cancer this past summer. It metastasized in the brain and then in the stomach. He went peacefully and that's all we could have hoped for.
I know this post is short, a lot shorter than my usual posts, but it weighs heavily on my heart and my family's heart.

Everything Happens for a Reason Right?
I keep telling myself that this is all apart of God's plan. I keep saying that He wouldn't give us more than we can handle. Yet, at this point in time, I am feeling so overwhelmed that I am starting to have a hard time eating, and having an even harder time sleeping. When I do finally fall asleep at night, it isn't restful and is down right fitful most nights.
We were looking at years, then it was months, now we are looking at weeks. Frankly, this scares me more than anything else I have ever had to deal with in my 26 years.
Danny's stomach was swollen so Mom took him to the hospital yesterday and got him pumped. Almost a gallon of fluid was removed, and I want to say almost 3/4 of that was a deep, dark red, blood color.
Plainest terms possible, the cancer has spread to his stomach. He isn't getting any better. Actually he is getting a lot worse. It's heartbreaking to watch. We are now faced with a matter of weeks rather than months or what we originally hoped, years. His cancer is spreading very rapidly, and there seems to be nothing the doctors can do to stop it from spreading. We won't know how progressive it is until his next PET scan which is next week.
We were trying to be optimistic, but it's getting hard. It seems like every time I turn around I am crying yet again. I can't seem to control it anymore, though I do try very hard.Well, I need to be going, I have a lot to do today before I have to go to work.
Until next time,
Remember the Simple Things in Life and make each moment count.
